There were no residents requaste or co~enta from
the floor.
Directvr Thatcher exp lained the Firet State Bank oE
New Brighton wou':.d like L•o erect an acceaeory
building , which ie not coverad under the present
code. He reviewed the memo from the building
inepector, dated July 2S, 1984, and hie recommen-
datlone that it meet the maximum square footage
requirement of 216 sf, and look ar.chitectually the
atune ae the principel building, and that it iacor-
porate the garbage faciiities.
Director Thatcher advised that if the Planning
~~x` Commiseion was going to bce revising ~rhe code, they

R-1 dietri~ta, in churches. He added that Staff
recommenda acceseory buildinge Sc allowed ae long
ae they meet the 216 ef requirement, and anything
larger than that wuuld require a conditional use

Chairman Mountin advteed the applicant would have to
requeet a co3e revie~~t, ae thera wae an ommiesion
during the code revi~ew and acceseory Luildinge were
noC covere~i for businese areae. 3ha also advieed
thaC the applicant would be applying to build a
garage, raCher thsn an accesaory building, ae
defined by both the eiza and intended usage of the
buildi.ng.
Director Thatcher reviewed what ia allocJable under
R-1 for acceaeory buildinge and gerages. He also
advised the msxim~uu squsre footage all~wed for
garagea ie 864 sf.
Chairman Mountin advised that in a code appeal,
~ the Planning 'Ao~iseion would reco~end to the
ti,, Council to change the ordinance. She also reviewed
the options available to the Planning Commiseion.
It wae the concensus of the Planning Cnmmission i~
begin work on thie item at t4e next agenda sesei.on,
and ha•,U Staff prepare information from eurrounding
cou~unities, Blaine and New Brighton in pnrticuSar.,
on both their garage and acceaeory building
requirementa. They also reca~ended looking at
the request as a conditional use permit requeet,
which vtAUld necessitate public hearinge.
It wae agreed that the November agenda sesai.~n would
be held on iuesday, November 20, due to Y,he Thanke-
giving holiday.

Director Thatcher advised the Commieaionere that
Marv Anderson Conatruction Co, would like to taka them
ott a tour of subdivisions with narrower lote, with
one auggeated da~e of Saturday, November 10.

Director Thatchez briefed the Cowmisaionora on a one
day seminar from the Goverament Training Service and
took the names of thuaP intereated in attending.
Director Thatcher informed the Commisaionere he had
checked khe code, in reference to tt;eir earlier
question of where it etatee that depoeite can be
required of developers, and found it in 40.28 and
59.07. He also advieed the statua af earlier
convereations with the Cauncil reEarding a parking
ban, and recommended it be placed on the agenda
again £or discuosion and to resolve the iasue.
