Title/Subject: Community Development Department Priorities

BACKGROUND
At the last City Council/Staff retreat the there was a discussion about the need to set priorities. In
response to that discussion the Community Development Department staff is in the process of
identifying priorities. We will then develop a more detailed work plan for the next year and a
half based on those priorities. This work plan will also be used to put together the draft
department budget for 2001.
CD staff has looked at each of the major program areas which we deal with and have listed
general activities in each of the areas. I have attached a list of the identified activities by major
program area. The next step is to assign priorities. I will discuss how staff has prioritized the list
with the City Council at the work session on Monday. In the meantime it would be very helpful
if City Council members could list their priorities (A, B, or C with A being the highest priority)
in the last column of the list and would be prepared to discuss them on Monday night. There are
also blank spaces if there are activities that aren’t listed which you think should be added.
If for some reason you are unable to access this report electronically, I have put a hard copy in
your in-baskets. Thank you your input is extremely important.
