A motion was passed by the Mounds View Charter Commission on
December 19, 1985, which allows the City Council of Mounds View
to amend the City Charter by Ordinance with a unanimous vote of
the council, amending Chapter 4, Section 4.02, to read as follows:
"Sec. 4.02. Filing for Office. No earlier than fifty-six days
nor later than forty-two days before any municipal election,
any resident of the city qualified under state law for elective
office may, by filing an affidavit and by paying a filing fee
to the clerk-administrator in an amount as set by ordinance,
have his/her name placed on the municipal election ballot."
The purpose of this amendment is to bring the Charter into conformance
with state law (Minnesota Statute 1984, Section 205.13, Sub 1) which
changes the number of days to which a candidate may file for a municipal
office.
