Member Changes No new members II. Meeting Dates January 9, 1985 December 19, 1985 III. Business Synopsis 1. Public Hearing and Meeting January 9, 1985, to obtain input from the public regarding two proposed amendments to the City Charter: (a) Chapter 4, Nominations and Elections, Sec. 4.01 - The Regular Municipal Election. 1. Amend date and/or year, as to whether or not even or odd numbered. (b) Chapter 4, Nominations and Elections, Sec. 4.05 - Vacancy of Municipal Elected Office. 1. Add new Subdivision 7 to read: "Should a councilmember or mayor seek another elected office, and still have (1) or more years to serve on their present term of office, that person must resign from their present office in time to allow their council seat to be added to the General or Special Election." Business Synopsis - (continued) (c) By duly passed motion, both proposed amendments to the city charter were dropped from further consideration at this time. 2. A motion was duly passed by the Mounds View Charter Commission on December 19, 1985, which allows the City Council of Mounds View to amend the City Charter by Ordinance with a unanimous vote of the council, amending Chapter 4, Section 4.02, to read as follows: "Sec 4.02. Filing for Office. No earlier than fifty-six days nor later than forty-two days before any municipal election, any resident of the city qualified under state law for elective office may, by filing an affidavit and by paying a filing fee to the clerk-administrator in an amount as set by ordinance, have his/her name placed on the municipal election ballot." (a) The purpose of this amendment is to bring the Charter into conformance with state law (Minnesota Statute 1984, Section 205.13, Sub 1) which changes the number of days to which a candidate may file for a municipal office. 3. 1986 meeting dates scheduled for the second Wednesday of each quarter; such meetings to be called at the discretion of the Chairman: March 12, 1986 June 11, 1986 September 10, 1986 December 10, 1986 Respectfully submitted, / Ruth ite, Secretary Mounds View Charter Commission /rjw cc: Clerk-Administrator City of Mounds View
