HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-08-2001 MOUNDS VIEW CHARTER COMMISSION MINUTES Meeting-March 8,2001 1. Call to Order- The meeting was called to order by Chair J. Thomas at 7:04 p.m. at the Mounds View City Hall. 2. Roll Call -Present-J. Thomas,B. Doty,R. Stigney,M. Amirahmadi,B. Jahnke, D. McCarty, W. Mori, W. Werner Sr. Absent-J. Miller, O. Braathen,D. Sach Le, S. Robinson,M. Sandback 3. Approval of Minutes- Motion W. Doty, second W. Mori,to approve the minutes of February 15,2001 as presented. Otherwise UNANIMOUS APPROVAL,with W. Werner Sr. Abstaining. 4. Citizens' comments from the floor- No citizens present, other than commission members. 5. Reports of the Chair- Chair J. Thomas informed the commission that Judge Cohen appointed William Werner, Sr. to fill the term position to which Leonard Burgers had been named since • he had never completed and/or turned in his Oath. Chair J. Thomas presented a draft proposal of Resolution No. 2001-01 relating to amendments to the publishing requirements of the Charter and discussion followed; motion by W. Doty directing Chair J. Thomas to put together language to add to Section 12.01 to clarify publishing requirements, also relating to other Sections, and callling for further questions, second by D. McCarty. UNANIMOUS APPROVAL 6. Resports of members -none. 7. Unfinished Business- Chair J. Thomas will try to modify and/or put together additional language to amend Section 12.01 and present at next meeting. 8. New Business- R. Stigney passed out a copy of a proposed City Charter Amendment relating to Section 7.03, System of Taxation,for members to review and discuss. Chair Thomas requested that members review and send comments to him before the proposed Amendment is put on future agenda. Motion by D. McCarty, second W. Werner, Sr., to put this item,along with proposed Section 12.01 Amendment,on agenda for next meeting. • UNANIMOUS APPROVAL Chair J. Thomas requested input regarding Mounds View Matters publication as to 41111 including Charter Commission business, as well as information from City Council. 9. Adjournment- Motion D. McCarty, second W. Doty to adjouin at approximately 9:00 p.m..
