I understand that the City would like to fill the vacancy created by Councilmember's Thomason's resignation through an election to be held in conjunction with the general election on November 7, 2000. In order for the election to fill the vacancy resulting from Councilmember's Thomason's resignation to take place on November 7, 2000, a number of specific steps must be taken and completed by a certain time period. I have drafted a table of specific action items below that must be completed by the City and Councilmember Thomason for your review. Applicable Date Action Needed to be Taken/ Description Resignation letter received by City on or before Letter of Resignation. Letter of resignation sent by August 7, 2000, for consideration and action at Lynne Thomason to City stating a future effective date as expressly permitted by Minn. Stat. § 351.01, subd. On or before August 15,2000. Publishing Notice of Vacancy. City must publish notice of vacancy by this date. This is the date in which candidates may file for vacancies including the vacancy created by Councilmember Thomason's resignation. November 7,2000 Election Day.
