STATE OF MINNESOTA
APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF GLOCK PISTOLS AND HOLSTERS FOR THE
POLICE DEPARTMENT USING FORFEITURE FUNDS
WHEREAS, the police department issues department owned pistols to all
officers. In 2007 a committee of Mounds View Police Officers reviewed the condition of
the currently issued Beretta Pistols and have recommended they be replaced with new
issued Glock Pistols, and:
WHEREAS, the police department has a forfeiture fund which is adequately
funded for this purchase. The use of this fund is limited to purchases such as firearms
for the police department, and:
WHEREAS, during 2008 budget deliberations this purchase was discussed and
approved for the 2008 police department forfeiture fund, and:
WHEREAS, Streicher's Police Equipment carries the state bid for the Glock
Pistols. A sales quote was received from Streicher's which included all of the necessary
pistols and holsters on the state bid for the police department along with a trade in
deduction for all of the old issued Beretta Pistols. The price for this including sales tax
is $7358.50
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mounds View City Council
does hereby authorize the purchase of the Glock Pistols and holsters from Streicher's
Police Equipment including a trade in of current department issued pistols in the amount
of $7393.21, from the police forfeiture fund.
