STATE OF MINNESOTA
RESOLUTION APPROVING A HONEYBEE KEEPING LICENSE FOR
MICHELLE HERLUND, 5557 ST. STEPHEN STREET
WHEREAS, Ordinance 908, which amended Chapter 701 of the City Code, allows for the
keeping of bee hives on properties zoned R-1, Single Family Residential; and,
WHEREAS, in accordance with Ordinance 908, applications shall be considered by the
City Council after holding a public hearing; and
WHEREAS, Michelle Herlund has submitted a license application to keep and raise
honeybees on her property at 5557 St. Stephen street; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Herlund has paid the appropriate fees, provided the City with an
approved site plan and provided proof of adequate training in Honeybee Keeping; and
WHEREAS, this license may be revoked or denied by the City Council based on
negligence or nuisance;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, THAT the Mounds View City Council does
hereby approve a license for the keeping and raising of honeybees to Michelle Herlund on her
property located at 5557 St. Stephen Street and that the license will be valid indefinitely contingent
on the following:
1. Hive is located in the rear yard and set back at least ten feet from property line and
home and at least twenty-five feet from any public trail or walkway.
2. No more than four hives are operating.
3. Hive openings shall face in toward subject property's backyard.
4. A clean water source shall be provided on the property.
5. Equipment shall be maintained in good condition in accordance with accepted best
management practices.
6. Unused beekeeping equipment shall be properly disposed of or stored indoors.
7. Hives shall be operated continuously.
