A RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF ORDINANCE NO. 959
AMENDING TITLE 1100, CHAPTER 1104 OF THE MOUNDS VIEW CITY CODE
RELATING TO MINIMUM FLOOR AREA PER DWELLING UNIT
WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View City Code, Title 1100, Chapter 1104, Section
1104.02 establishes a minimum dwelling unit size, per bedroom; and,
WHEREAS, INH Properties has proposed to construct an apartment building to include
Studio Apartments, which have less than one -bedroom and have a minimum floor area of 526 sq
ft; and,
WHEREAS, the following amendment to the City Code is proposed:
ORDINANCE NO. 959
THE CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Mounds View hereby amends Title 1100, Chapter
1104, Section 1104.02 of the Mounds View Municipal Code by adding the double -underlined
material and deleting the striP4R,4g material as follows:
Subd. 4. Minimum Floor Area Per Dwelling Unit:
C. Multiple Dwelling Units: Living units classified as multiple dwellings shall have
the following minimum floor areas per unit:
Less than (1) bedroom unit 520 square feet
(1) One (1) bedroom units 630 square feet
(2) Two (2) bedroom units 750 square feet

3) More than two (2) bedroom units - an additional one hundred twenty (120)
square feet for each additional bedroom.
SECTION 2. In accordance with Section 3.07 of the City Charter, City staff shall have the
following summary printed in the official City newspaper in lieu of the complete ordinance:
On June 24, 2019, the City Council adopted Ordinance 959 that amends Title 1100,
Chapter 1104, of the Mounds View City Code, relating to the minimum floor area per
dwelling unit.
A printed copy of the ordinance is available for inspection during regular business hours at
Mounds View City Hall and is available on line at the City's web site located at
www.moundsviewnm.org.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force 30 days from and after its passage and
publication, in accordance with Section 3.09 of the City Charter.
Introduction and First Reading by the Mounds View City Council on June 24, 2019.
Second Reading and Adoption by the Mounds View City Council on July 8, 2019.
Publication Date: July 17, 2019.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, based upon the staff report, the Planning
Commission does hereby recommend approval of the Ordinance Amendment request made by
INH Properties; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Mounds View
Planning Commission directs Staff to forward this resolution to the City Council before approval
of the minutes.
