RICE CREEK WATERSHED DISTRICT
October 22, 2018
City Of Mounds View
2401 Mounds View Blvd
Mounds View MN 55112-1429
Dear City Of Mounds View,
This notice is being sent to several landowners along Anoka -Ramsey Judicial Ditch 1 Branch 5
(ARJD 1 Br 5). The Rice Creek Watershed District (RCWD), as the drainage authority for all public
drainage systems within its boundary, is responsible for maintaining this public drainage
system. The RCWD will be performing routine maintenance which will consist of selective tree
removal, sediment (spoil) excavation, and culvert jetting/cleaning. The project is anticipated to
start in early November and take approximately two to three weeks (note that dates are
subject to change due to weather conditions or other site -specific restrictions).
Trees that are cut down for removal will be either chipped on -site or hauled off -site. Tree
deadfall that is removed from within the ditch channel will be placed along the ditch bank. The
spoil will be placed along the bank slope or the top of bank. Spoils will not be hauled away.
The attached map indicates the anticipated locations of tree removal and excavation. Please
note that the map is approximate. The drainage authority reserves the right to perform
maintenance on either side of the ditch to the extent that is reasonable and necessary. The
project limits will be kept as small as practicable, with the minimum tree removal possible to
complete the maintenance project. Please be aware that field conditions may affect the
amount of tree removal required.
If there are any questions, please call or email Ashlee Ricci at 763-398-3082 or
aricci@ricecreek.org or Tom Schmidt at 763-398-3076 or tschmidt@ricecreek.or.
Sincerely,
Tom Schmidt
