ROLL CALL: Commissioners: Kunz, Kroeger, Aukee, Peterson, Arel, Long Staff: Dazenski, Debar | YMCA: Danielson 3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Agenda amended to move city staff reports to follow the YMCA report (#6) Motion by Arel to approve amended agenda, 2nd by Peterson. Motion Passed 6-0 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A. April 26, 2012 Meeting Minutes. Motion by Kroeger to approve, 2nd by Kunz. Motion Passed 6-0 5. PUBLIC INPUT Citizens may speak to issues not on tonight’s agenda. Before speaking, please give your full name and address. Please limit your comments to three minutes. No residents present. 6. STAFF REPORTS A. YMCA REPORT Approximately 150 people attended the recent dance recital. Spring session is wrapping up and summer session will start in 2 weeks. Enrollment is strong for the summer session. Added some summer parent/child offerings for the summer. Summer parks program will have approximately 70 participants. There are some programs aimed at older residents - details on those events can be found in the Mounds View Matters. Registration for summer fun run as part of the Festival in the Park is now open. Music-in- the-Park ready to go for June (North Suburban Band), July (Ken Lehm and Friends), and August (Teddy Bear Band). Summer hours starting May 29th. Event center bookings are strong. Park building bookings are strong for most Friday, Saturday and Sundays. Soccer camp is August 6th – 10th. Safety Camp is scheduled for August 15th and 16th. Details for both are in the Mounds View Matters. B. CITY STAFF REPORT Punch list for Lambert building to finish up items. Irrigation and field work will begin shortly on the ballfied for Lambert. The aerator will go in at Silverview Park within the next 3 – 4 weeks. Roofing is progressing well at the community center. Goal number 2 was stolen from the disc golf course. Various parts of parks were again vandalized. Timbers will be removed from Groveland volleyball court within the next few weeks. Ash tree treatments have begun. City staff has been busy with maintenance and getting the fields ready for summer use. There is a reminder in the Mounds View Matters regarding the adopt-a-park program. The ordinance related to city trees passed the City Council and will go into effect next week. Changes to note include the ability for residents to inject trees and the DNR grant. 7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS A. Discuss Trailway and Sidewalk System Plan: Input from the group is needed on the walkway and trailway plan. Recent information on understanding the state guidelines changes some of the recent findings. Design for the walkway/bikeway on the north boulevard of County H is in progress, detailed design information will be provided at the June meeting with the expectation of getting citizen input during the July meeting 8. NEW BUSINESS A. Discuss Silverview Park Trailway Rehabilitation: The city will need to work with some of the neighboring property owners to work out some newly identified easement questions. There will be some need to engage engineering/surveying resources to ensure that the rebuilt trail has the appropriate foundation. City staff will work to address these 2 items and will report back on progress next month. B. Recommend Furniture Purchase for Lambert Park: A motion was made to acquire 35-40 plastic stackable chairs and 5 lightweight round tables as well as 2 square tables for the inside of the building as well as for 4 square picnic tables that seat 8 people apiece for the outside of the building at a cost not to exceed $10,000. The motion was amended to state that $4,500 come from the donation from BBC and the remaining funds from the park dedication funds. Amended motion was accepted. Motion passed 6-0. C. Review 2013 General Fund Budget for Parks: The budgets were reviewed and minor line items discussed. No changes suggested. 9. REPORTS A. Reports of Commission Members: Arel: Was approached by a citizen regarding a park patrol. Dave Long will take place of Gerald at the June 11th Y Advisory Meeting Long: Mentioned that he regularly walks Silverview park and keeps an eye on things at that park 10. REQUESTS FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS / OTHER BUSINESS A. Next Regular Commission Meeting: June 28, 2012 1. Recommend Playground Improvements (Lambert and/or Silverview) 2.
