MEETING MINUTES
1. CALL TO ORDER AT 6:32 PM
2. ROLL CALL:
Commissioners: Arel, Aukee*, Katovich, Kroeger, Kunz, Long*, Palm, Rundle, Roste
Staff: Erickson, Peterson | YMCA: Danielson *to be absent
3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Move 9C to 7A. Motion to approve as amended by Palm, 2nd by
Katovich. Motion Passed. 7-0
4. SPECIAL BUSINESS
A. Tour of Random Park Shelter 5:30p.m.
5. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. January 28, 2016: Motion to approve by Kunz, 2nd by Kroeger. Motion Passed 7-0
6. PUBLIC INPUT
Citizens may speak to issues not on tonight’s agenda. Before speaking, please give your full
name and address. Please limit your comments to three minutes. No residents present.
7. STAFF REPORTS
A. YMCA: See attached report.
1. Coach of the Year: Motion to award Candidate 1 as Coach of the Year by Kunz, 2nd by
Rundle. Motion Passed. 7-0.
B. Public Works: See attached report.
8. UNFINISHED BUSINES
A. Groveland Park – 2015 Improvements – update. Looking for ways to soften the interior and
make it more welcoming. Suggested flooring: Tile in bathrooms and kitchen: $3876.67
Carpet: $2787. Direct Staff to continue to look for different cost options.
B. Hillview Hockey Rink – continue discussion of layout, rink light repairs – (No update at this
time). Contractor will come out to give a quote before next meeting.
C. City Hall Park - continue discussion on splash pad, playground, picnic area and shelters,
rest rooms, changing areas – Direct Staff to break down each area: playground, picnic
shelter, and splash pad so we can pick and choose components and prioritize.
D. Random Park Building improvement – discussion from earlier tour of building. Interior
issues seem to be more cosmetic: painting walls and modernizing the kitchen by removing
the cabinets and putting in a counter. Leave wall in place, perhaps, for now. Direct Staff to
investigate outside needs structurally-are there other issues underneath the boards that we
don’t know about? Get costs for siding and exterior improvements for next meeting so we
can make decisions.

10. COMMISSIONER REPORTS:
A. Irondale Bands is having a mattress sale Sunday, February 28 at Irondale High
School 11-6.
11. REQUESTS FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS / OTHER BUSINESS
A. Discuss Disc Golf Course Modifications at Silver View Park
B. Motion by Palm to change March meeting date to Thursday, March 31st, 2nd by Arel. Motion
passed 6-0 (Roste absent).
12. ADJOURNMENT: Motion to adjourn at 8:48 pm by Kunz, 2nd by Katovich. Motion passed
6-0 (Roste absent).
