MEETING MINUTES
1. CALL TO ORDER at 6:33 PM
2. ROLL CALL:
Commissioners: Arel, Aukee, *Katovich, Kroeger, Kunz, Palm, Rundle
Staff: Erickson, Peterson | YMCA: Thomas *to be absent
3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Motion by Palm to approve, 2nd by Aukee. Motion Passed 6-0
4. SPECIAL BUSINESS
A. Reappointment Oath for Jerry Kunz, by Brian Erickson
B. Reappointment Oath for Cindy Palm, by Brian Erickson
5. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. December 15, 2016: Motion to approve by Aukee, 2nd by Arel. Motion Passed 6-0
6. PUBLIC INPUT
Citizens may speak to issues not on tonight’s agenda. Before speaking, please give your full
name and address. Please limit your comments to three minutes.
Gary Meehlhause: Random Park Building looks fantastic on the inside! A real difference in the
building by removing the old office room, paint and carpet.
7. STAFF REPORTS
A. YMCA: See attached report. Gym rentals down from previous years because MVCC/YMCA
running more of their own programming which takes up rental availability.
B. Public Works: See attached report.
8. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. City Hall Park - continue discussion on splash pad, playground, picnic area and shelters:
Reviewed latest proposal from Task Force to present to City Council Work Session in
March. Accepted feedback from Commission. Do we need to consider any fencing/border
to guide entry points into splash pad area and/or security cameras?
B. Discuss Disc Golf Course Modifications at Silver View Park – (verbal report/update by
Staff). Like the proposed layout. We can adjust order of tees later.
C. Review Park and Trail System Map: Latest updates modified. Need to see what Staff need
for the next City Comprehensive Plan.
D. Recommend Funding Request for Bethlehem Baptist Church Donations: PRF received
nothing from BBC in 2016. Request same items for Silver View Park and Groveland Park
as requested in 2016. Motion by Kroeger, 2nd by Palm to request New LED lighting at
Silver View Park $6200, New floor coating at Silver View Park $4500, Security
Lighting for playground at Silver View Park $8400, Replacement of furniture at
Groveland Park $3000. Motion Passed 6-0.
E. Review 2017 Park Projects: Disc golf improvements, Irrigation at Silver View, Greenfield
Tennis Courts, and Hillview Hockey Rink
F. Review Park Dedication Fund Balance
9. NEW BUSINESS: None
10. COMMISSIONER REPORTS:
A. MVPD Father/Daughter Dance Feb 14.
B. Irondale High School Winter Music of the Knight: Feb. 18.
C. Still working on construction at Oakwood/Greenfield Park north of Hillview. Need to
consider access to trail with sidewalk on north side of Hillview to eliminate wash out at start
of trail.
D. Service to Youth Awards Feb. 9.

A. Next Regular Commission Meeting: February 23, 2017 6:30pm
12. ADJOURNMENT: Motion by Aukee to adjourn at 8:05 PM, 2nd by Kunz. Motion Passed 6-0
