Public Works: See attached report. 7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS – none 8. NEW BUSINESS A. Coach of the Year: Motion by Palm, 2nd by Arel to nominate candidate for 2019 Coach of the Year. Motion Passed 5-0. B. Earth Day: April 22, 2019-looking for service organizations who might want to do something in the city to promote Earth Day. C. Arbor Day: April 26, 2019: Planting a few trees in city parks. D. City Hall Play Ground - 2 New Shelters for splash pad and play ground: Shelters were planned for in the budget for this year, were in the original plan, and will come in under budget. Motion to approve by Kroeger, 2nd by Kunz. Motion Passed 5-0. E. Review Park Improvement Plan – 5 Year CIP-Consider restroom enclosures at all buildings and new park signs in the future. Groveland Park-wait on irrigation system until things are given time to grow after street project and tennis courts. Random Park-consider new playground. City Hall Park-wait for irrigation if we are going to install a Veterans’ Memorial. Lambert Park-will need to repair and/or replace boards on ice rink 9. COMMISSIONER REPORTS: KnightKrawler robotics is competing at the U of M, Williams Arena, this weekend Friday and Saturday. FREE! 10. Maintenance Staff worked on the following items this last month: • Silverview soccer restoration • Batting cage net installation • Batting cage power repair • Greenfield swing repairs • Greenfield slide ordered installation in May • Branch and litter pick up • Ball field inspections and dragging • Ballfield game preps • Track painting and line painting Friday the 31st • Splash pad construction help • Mowing • Leaf pickup Forestry Staff worked on the following items this last month: • Arbor day tree planting Hillview • Wood chipping and tree maintenance The following projects are planned this year. Current updates are in black text, and updates from the previous two month period are in grey. Silver View Park Relocate Disc Golf Course: • Ramsey County started tree removal along County Road I and Silver View Road in order to re-profile the draining ditch on the North and West side of the park. Public Works Staff has received numerous calls with concerns and complaints on the tree removal. • Ramsey County continues to work in re-profiling the draining ditch along County Road I and Silver View Road, located in Silver View Park. City Hall Campus: Irrigation & Landscaping Improvements: • Playground equipment was approved and ordered. • Received Splash Pad plans, contractor currently reviewing for installation costs. • Continue vision planning • Play Ground and Splash Pad on hold with weather. Shelter is being worked on, some delays as all the parts were not delivered. Parts are shipped from Michigan. Contractor works on building as parts are available. Main Playground and splash Pad to be installed in 2019. Works has started this spring. Public Works Staff Report 2/2 Groveland Park: Tennis/Basketball Court Rehabilitation (Design): • Fred Kolkman working on plans and specs, a couple questions have been asked will be discussed tonight. • City attorney is review the contract documents • Plans and Specs sent out to contractors – bid opening May 30th at 10:00am. • Tennis Court Rehab Project started Wednesday June 27, 2018 • Asphalt is down, fencing completed and coating will be completed • Final Inspection of Punch list items on 10/25/2018 for Tennis/Basket Ball Court Hillview Park: • Hockey rink fence completed, Public Works staff completed installing the boards. Grading and fill need to be completed. Depending on the weather the base may be a 2018 project. • Ag-lime base to be completed in 2018. Random Park: Building Renovation: • Staff continued painting exterior of shelter building, East side needs to be completed in 2018. • Table’s selection made and ordered . • Vandalism of front entry – discussion tonight. • Contractor is in progress for repairing the building. • Painting of exterior scheduled for fall of 2018. Completed • Painted interior/ rest room repairs Greenfield Park: RCWD ARJD#1 Project: Rice Creek Watershed District is planning the re-profiling and repair of Anoka-Ramsey Judicial Ditch No. 1 which runs through Greenfield Park. Also included is Branch No. 5 which is located behind the baseball outfield and crosses below the parking lot entrance. Staff will be meeting with RCWSD to inquire the status of this work. • Scheduled meeting with RCWD for Monday July 30th for rain gardens and ARJD#1. • RCWD has sent letters out cleaning of Judicial Ditch No. 1 to start • Work is close to being completed Other: MCES Sewer Interceptor Project: MCES will potentially need to gain access to the site again, they are having some issues with a flume that was installed. At this time the extent of work is yet to be determined. Meet with MCES staff and contractor work will start in June and last through August. Contractor will need dig next to a manhole in the Park, a bypass pump will be in operation. The trail in the Park will be closed while this work is in progress. MCES is responsible to restoration. Work here is completed and the restoration done, restoration not accepted and will need to be re-done. Staff meet with MCES and addressed issues with restoration. All work will be completed this fall. Community Center Update 1. Program Updates a. Youth Programs i. Get Summer 1. 300 Youth have opportunity to have access to CC during the summer.
