YMCA – Reviewed CC Update provided by Thomas: • Recognized a MV & YMCA 21 year relationship tomorrow (January 24th) • Youth/Teen Programs: Good involvement in Youth in Government and Model United Nations events • Sports: 1 Girl and 2 Coed B-Ball teams; 2 Girls V-Ball teams; 50 registered to date for summer sports • Senior Programs: Participation increasing – Doubled from 2018 • Membership: YTD daily admissions of 735 • Ice Rinks: Opened ~Jan 1st B. Public Works • Reviewed PW Staff Report • MVCC HVAC improvements • Planning for replacement gym divider, and rest rooms in locker rooms • UNFINISHED BUSINESS A. City Hall Park Veterans Memorial – Volunteer mtgs to occur pre-PR&F Commission mtgs. PR&F Volunteer are Arel and Palm B. Review of Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission – Role and Duties - Commissioners reviewed Chapter 405 as introduction to new commissioners C. Review of City Parks – Commissioners reviewed map of all city parks as introduction to new commissioners D. Review of Park Dedication Fund – Projects, Budget Balance – Commissioners reviewed Park Dedication Fund balance ($265.7k as of Jan 23rd) and funding sources, and planned park projects (PIP) as introduction to new commissioners • NEW BUSINESS - None • COMMISSIONER REPORTS A. Commission should review recreational programs provided by the YMCA B. Interest in lighting of three 3 pine trees between trailway and softball fields during the holidays. Coach of the year 1 | Page Item No. 7B M E M O R A N D U M To: Parks & Recreation & Forestry Commissioners From: Don Peterson – Public Works Director Date: February 27, 2020 RE: Public Works Staff Report _______________________________________________________________________________ The following is a synopsis of recent activities and events of the Public Works Department. Maintenance Staff worked on the following items since November: • Flooding Rinks • Snow removal • Repairs to Community Center Forestry Staff worked on the following items this last month: • Continue Ash Tree Removal • Removed some hazard trees around the Silver View trail - total of 35 trees • Contractor started trimming boulevard trees • Finished up on the private and boulevard tree removals – 84 trees removed in all The following projects are planned this year. Current updates are in black text, and updates from the previous two month period are in grey. Ardan Park • Working with Stantec Engineering on some drainage issues in the Park. Application to perform some storm water pond maintenance was submitted to RCWD. City Hall Campus: Irrigation & Landscaping Improvements: • New Picnic Shelters are being built, will be ready for next season rental. • Worked with plumber and vendor to winterize the splash pad. • Installation of the New Picnic Tables started Groveland Park: Tennis/Basketball Court Rehabilitation (Design): • Final Inspection of Punch list items on 10/25/2018 for Tennis/Basket Ball Court Greenfield Park: • Notified by the DNR that corrections to be made to the tennis court gate entrance – ADA accessible. Fencing contractor scheduled for next month Leveled the trail running in the back portion of the Park, added class 5 as needed. Public Works Staff Report 2 | Page Hillview Park: • Hockey rink fence completed, Public Works staff completed installing the boards. Grading and fill need to be completed. Depending on the weather the base may be a 2018 project. • Ag-lime base to be completed in 2018. Lambert Park • Inventory of Hockey Rink boards to re-place started. • Commission will need to discuss at the February 2020 Meeting size of the Hockey Rink. Random Park: Silver View Park Relocate Disc Golf Course: • Ramsey County continues to work in re-profiling the draining ditch along County Road I and Silver View Road, located in Silver View Park.
