HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 9367RESOLUTION NO. 9367 CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA RESOLUTION APPROVING JOB DESCRIPTIONS FOR THE FRONT DESK LEAD AND THE FRONT DESK STAFF AND AUTHORIZE HIRING FOR THE POSITIONS WHEREAS, Council recommended approval of the City operating a Parks and Recreation Department during their October 12, 2020 meeting; and WHEREAS, a job description has been created for the Front Desk Lead position; and WHEREAS, a job description has been created for the Front Desk Staff position; and WHEREAS, the Human Resources Committee has had an opportunity to review both job descriptions; and WHEREAS, staff is requesting authorization to hire up to 2 Y2 FTEs (5200 hours per year), part-time, non -benefit positions, and eligible for PERA after 180 days of employment. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mounds View City Council Approves the Job Description for the Front Desk Lead as shown in Exhibit A (attached) and the Job Description for the Front Desk Staff as shown in Exhibit B (attached), and authorizes staff to fill the positions. Mueller, Maybr ATTEST: Nyle Zikrhund, Cify Administrator (SEAL) Exhibit A Position Title: Department: Accountable to: Status: CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW POSITION DESCRIPTION Front Desk Lead Parks and Recreation / Community Center Public Works/Parks and Recreation Director Non -Exempt Part -Time PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITON Under the guidance and supervision of the Parks and Recreation Superintendent, this position is responsible to handle the daily operation of the Parks and Recreation front desk and provide leadership to the Front Desk Staff members in order to ensure the overall delivery of excellent customer service to all participants and guests. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the general guidance and direction of the Parks and Recreation Superintendent. SUPERVISION EXERCISED None. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Responsible for opening and closing of the facility. • Provide work direction for part-time Front Desk Staff. ■ Provide excellent customer service to participants and guests of the Parks and Recreation Department. • Assist customers with daily admission and registration in programs, which includes addressing and resolving customer questions, reserving rooms/shelters, and providing receipts. • Answer and direct all calls in a professional, friendly manner and take complete and accurate messages. • Perform data entry of new participants and update existing information in database. • Sort and distribute incoming mail, packages, and other correspondence. ■ Maintain a clean and well organized work area. • Receive and process registrations for classes and programs. • Provide tours to customers through the facility. • Scan and properly file documents electronically to ensure efficient and effective future retrieval. • Make copies and assist Parks and Recreation Superintendent, Recreation Coordinator, and Event Manager/Recreation Coordinator when asked. • Close out cash drawer daily and prepare shift close report for Parks and Recreation Superintendent. Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School graduate or have a GED. • One year customer service experience. Committed to working a part-time schedule of up to 20 - 25 hours per week which include weekdays (8:00 a.m. — 7:00 p.m.); weekends (10:00 a.m. — 4:00 p.m.), and school breaks (8:00 a.m. — 7:00 p.m.). • First Aid certified or willing to become certified within 30 days of hire. • Willing to work with people of diverse backgrounds. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This work regularly requires occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, bending, reaching, and walking. Frequently requires sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions and occasionally requires stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms and lifting. Work requires close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception and color perception. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Occasionally there may be exposure to blood -borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.
