HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 9609RESOLUTION NO.9609 CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING COST SHARING FOR SANITARY SEWER LINE INSTALLATION AT 8289 SPRING LAKE ROAD WHEREAS, in an effort to further improve the City of Mounds View's (the "City") municipal sanitary sewer facilities, the City Council has approved an amendment to the Mounds View Municipal Code (the "City Code"), which requires new drainage and plumbing work installed in an existing building be separate from, and wholly independent of, that of any other building; and WHEREAS, the amendment, codified in section 52.014 of the City Code, authorizes the City to cost - share with certain homeowners that are required to comply with the aforementioned requirement; and WHEREAS, the owners of real property located at 8289 Spring Lake Road (the "Property") recently learned that the dwelling located on the Property does not have its own independent sanitary sewer service line, and so in order to comply with the City Code, they are required to install a new service line; and WHEREAS, section 52.014 provides the City Council with the ability to individually authorize the City to share in the costs of the aforementioned project to ensure that it is completed in a timely fashion, pursuant to City rules and regulations; and WHEREAS, furthermore, the City Council finds that it is reasonably necessary, proper, and convenient, and in the best interest of the general welfare of the City's municipal sanitary sewer system, that the City participate in the cost -sharing of such work as provided below. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Mounds View, Minnesota: The City is hereby authorized to pay for one-half of the total cost associated with the installation of a new individual sanitary sewer line at the Property, provided, however, that the City's share may not exceed $7,500. The owners of the Property must contract for the work and obtain all necessary permits and approvals that are otherwise necessary for the work. 2. The proper City employees, officers and agents are authorized and directed to perform all tasks and functions that are deemed reasonably necessary and convenient in order to carry out the intent of this Resolution.
