7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. Random Park Playground — Looked at options from St. Croix Recreation ($140K) and
Minnesota Wisconsin Playgrounds ($135,577). Both have similar features. No swings, but a
zip line, and does include the concrete. It will not have room for the climbing wall or merry-
go-round from City Hall park. Motion by Palm, 21 by Lillemo to recommend the
proposal from Minnesota Wisconsin Playground to replace the playground at
Random Park in 2022 in colors blue and green to City Council at a cost of $135,677.
Motion Passed 6-0.
8. NEW BUSINESS
A. Review applications for Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission — (3 seats).
Looking at the candidate applications. Motion by Kroeger, 2"d by Sullivan to recommend
applicants 2 and 3 to fill two of the seats available to the Commission. Motion Passed 6-0.
Motion by Kroeger, 2"d by Palm to recommend existing Commissioner, Kris Lillemo,
keep his seat if he submits his application. Motion Passed 5-0, Lillemo abstain.
9. COMMISSIONER REPORTS- 1) Change clocks back in November and check smoke detector
batteries. 2) Where are we at with the books in the park walking tour? Last meeting we
discussed getting the Girl Scouts involved. 3) Remember to vote on November 2!
10. REQUESTS FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS / OTHER BUSINESS: Next year's recreation
programs, gaga ball.

Senior Program
The Mounds View Community Center is proud to participate in
the Silver SneakersF and Silver & Fit program, Renew Active, and
OnePass for members 65 an older. Most are offered at no cost
through your insurance company. As a participant you would be
eligible for fitness classes, fitness center, gym access and fun
planned activities.

Silver Sneakers Classic
This aerobicworkout includes easyto follow low impact movement
and upper body strength, abdominal conditioning, stretching and
relaxation exercises designed to energize your active lifestyle.

The SilverSneakers Circuit workout offers standing low -impact
choreography alternated with standing upper -body strength

Volunteer led exercises consist of stretching and strengthening, as
well as aerobic walking. This is an excellent way to keep muscles
flexible and strong.

Pickleball
Pickleball is a combination of tennis, badminton, and ping pong
played by four people on a badminton size court with paddles and
a perforated poly ball. It is great exercise, easy to learn and lots of
fun. Come see what the excitement is all about and participate in the
fastest growing sport in America.

Check out our new Senior Center in the Mounds View Community
Center. With many new activities happening daily, we now have a
place for you to enjoy them! You can relax and enjoy the company,
play a game, and just hang out. Located in the Pine Room.
Daily Drop in Lounge - the coffee is onll!
Come to the Senior Center for a cup of coffee and conversation
to go along with it. This is a place to relax and just enjoy being with
others. Feel free to enjoy a game of cards or just some laughter

Hansell and her Happy Feet Dance Company staff have more than 60 years of
combined teaching experience, bringing a wide variety of classes to all ages
across the north metro area. We are excited to bring our popular, high-energy

the star -filled sky with Mounds View Resident and local astronomer, Dan Meyer. You will learn to use a
telescope to find constellations. There is no charge for this program but please register online.

The following is a synopsis of recent activities and events of the Public Works Department.
Maintenance
Staff worked on the following items since October 21, 2021;
■ Finished Splash pad cleaning —Winterizing
• Fished Irrigation Winterizing
• Finished Drinking fountain winterizing
• Mowing, whipping, trash and litter pickup
• Finished Fall Fertilizing at all parks
• Leaf pickup and leaf mulching at all parks
■ Soccer net and batting cage net removals
Forestry
Staff worked on the following items this last month:
• Resident consults
• Right of entry signatures
• Hazard Tree remediation and buck thorn removal on Silver View trail
The following is the List of Parks and projects / maintenance activities ongoing or planned this year.
Current updates are in black text, and updates from the previous two month period are in grey.
Ardan Park
• Working with Stantec Engineering on some drainage issues in the Park. Application to
perform some storm water pond maintenance was submitted to RCWD.
• Work to be scheduled for this winter — postponed at this time. Still working with contractor for
a date on completion.
• Work on ditch completed — some restoration needs to be finished.
• Leaf mulching
City Hall Campus:
• New Picnic Shelters are being built, will be ready for next season rental.
• Worked with plumber and vendor to winterize the splash pad.
• Installation of the New Picnic Tables started
• Wood chipped trees
• Irrigation system installation shop
• Leaf removal/ mulching
• Sun shade removal from the playground area

• Testing will be in open the Weekend of May 29
■ New UV light unit installed — Staff working on the system to fine tune the new UV
system.

Groveland Park:
■ Final Inspection of Punch list items on 10/25/2018 for Tennis/Basket Ball Court
• Working on tennis lights they are not working
■ Tennis lights repaired breakers replaced
• Leaf mulching and removal
Greenfield Park:
• Notified by the DNR that corrections to be made to the tennis court gate entrance — ADA
accessible. Fencing contractor scheduled for next month Leveled the trail running in the back
portion of the Park, added class 5 as needed.
• Commission will need to discuss at the August 2020, Green field baseball field. Take out all turf
from first and third base line and replace with Ag-lime to the fence. Most all new park
construction is going this way with ball fields. This would solve the wet home plate issue and
uneven base line issues.
■ Building has been re -roofed
• Doggie pot dispenser repaired, lock was vandalized
• Tree debris removed from ditch behind batting cage
• Leaf mulching and removal
Hillview Park:
• Commission will need to discuss at the August 2020, playground Rehabilitation.
• Furnace at Park Shelter has been replaced — condensing still needs to be installed.
• Bathroom locks repaired interior and exterior
• Hockey light checks and bulb replacements
• Leaf mulching and removal
Lambert Park
• Inventory of Hockey Rink boards to re -place started.
• Commission will need to discuss at the August 2020 Meeting size of the Hockey Rink
• Exterior drinking fountain repaired, it was pulled loose from the building.
