RESOLUTION 9706 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />AUTHORIZE RECRUITMENT PROCESS FOR 2023 PUBLIC WORKS SEASONAL POSITIONS <br />WHEREAS, Resolution 5546 requires that seasonal positions must be approved by the <br />Mounds View City Council; and <br />WHEREAS, seasonal employees benefit the City by providing labor services that are relatively <br />less expensive and are available during periods of greater labor requirements; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View Public Works Department does have a need to hire <br />seasonal employees; and <br />WHEREAS, the Public Works Department is recommending that seasonal positions be <br />approved for the summer season of 2023; and <br />WHEREAS, for 2023, Staff is recommending that new hires start at the hourly rate of <br />$17.00/hour and returning seasonal workers be compensated at $17.50/hour. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds View, <br />Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows: <br />1. The 2023 Seasonal Public Works positions are authorized to recruit a total of nine (9) <br />positions. These positions would start approximately mid -to late -May 2022 and work up <br />to 119 consecutive days (17 weeks) each; seven (7) for summer and two (2) for fall, <br />starting in August. <br />2. All newly hired Public Works seasonal positions will be paid an hourly rate of <br />$17.00/hour. Returning seasonal workers will be compensated at an hourly rate of <br />$17.50/hour. <br />3. Employees completing 14 or more weeks of the season will receive $250 (pro -rated <br />based on weeks of work completed) on their last paycheck. <br />4. Each seasonal position may work up to forty (40) hours per week.
