Mayor, Reyes-Johnson, Zikmund, Riggs (publicly and privately), Beer, Council Has Jonathan been advised regarding the effect of his behavior on others? Riggs (publicly and privately), Mayor, Zikmund Questions Why did Marissa resign? Why is Brooks going to resign and unwilling to meet with Brian and Jonathan? Why (likely) is Justin Klander going to resign? Why did Scott and I recommend and continue to recommend change is needed? Why does the commission experience constant turnover sans Brian and Jonathan? Why did Brian refuse to meet with Marissa? Behavior Both Jonathan and Brian can be extremely polite, helpful and courteous – UNTIL – you challenge them. At that point they become argumentative, condescending, demeaning and absolutely astringent. Both Jonathan and Brian mire themselves in minutia, process and formality; all in extreme levels. The likelihood of them changing their behavior is extremely remote. Both are adamantly opposed and extremely argumentative on having Riggs doing any drafting of charter language – they want to do all the drafting. If simplicity of language is goal, will not occur until Riggs starts drafting. Future Membership I was able to retain Marissa and recruit Brooks. I was not able to recruit Barb Renshaw or Stacy Waltz. I have no one else on my list Gary was able to recruit Justin Klander but no others. These three represented the next generation/future/leadership of Mounds View and all have or will be leaving. Where do we go from here? There is an immediate need to fill Reyes-Johnson spot and likely need to fill one or two more. Worst case scenario – we are down 4 members. Likely scenario – 3. Best case 2 Highly likely Brian has or will be recruiting Bill Doty and possible that Bill Mori or others may come back. Possibility that Brandon Clawson, another future leader may walk away as he mumbled to both me and Riggs that night and publicly expressed frustration on “what is going on here”. If 3 or 4 vacancies, unlikely the combination of Brian and Jonathan will be able to fill those four seats and while the Commission can meet and may have a quorum, per Riggs and in reference to his reference to the AG opinion, they cannot “rule” or make “recommendation” on actual Charter Changes until a full complement of members is achieved, thus – absent this they are unable to do anything. Similarly, unlikely that as long as they are both on commission, we will be unable to recruit members such as Marissa, Justin and Brooks who simply will walk away before confronting as they are not interested in taking on the beast, willing to serve and help but unwilling to tolerate the demonstrated behaviors.
