Park and Recreation Committee Meeting Agenda
August 25, 2005

1. Roll Call
2. Approval of minutes from the July 28, 2005 meeting
3. Unfinished Business:
a) Greenfield Park Play Equipment -
Final update report: The dedication plaque was mounted.
b) Groveland Park Building Replacement. –
On July 25, 2005 the City Council denied Resolution 6587 to award a contract for the Groveland
Park Building Replacement Project. The estimated cost of $330,300 was the over riding factor.
Since the last Park and Recreation Commission Meeting, Staff has collected information on the
option to relocate the Golf Course Clubhouse. This data is included as a separate document.
c) Facility Guide Update –
The Commissioners have recommended to delay the printing of the Facility Guide to late fall of this
year. At that time there will be more information pertaining to the Groveland Building and the
Medtronic proposal to develop the golf course property.
d) YMCA Advisory Committee Update – The Committee met on August 15, 2005. Items discussed
included:
1. City Hall Relocation Plan
2. Temporary Part-time Help during City Hall Project
3. Community Center Building Security
4. Showing of the Banquette Center to potential renters
5. RecWare Update
6. Other Use and Maintenance Issues
e) Field / Oakwood Park Renovation Project
Then next steps are as follows:
1.) Develop a layout for the plan.
2.) Develop a cost estimate for the individual items in the plan.
3.) Conduct an open house for the neighborhood to get their input.
4.) Bring the proposal to the City Council with the Commissioners recommendation
and neighborhood input.
The Parks Supervisor is working with the engineering technician to have the plans overlaid onto an
air photo (including proposed field, fences, new trees, picnic tables, benches, tot-lot…). The City
Forester will also be consulted to develop a tree-planting plan. Finally a line item cost estimate will
be developed.
f) County Road 10 Corridor Improvement Program – The Design Theme Subcommittee last met on
July 20, 2005. The City’s engineering consultant will be providing the City Council a project status
update at the September 6, 2005 City Work Session.
4. New Business:
a) Groveland Park Field – Are the Commissioners interested in creating an athletic field in the northwest
corner of Groveland Park. A field 95 feet in width and 210 feet in length is available. It would be a
simple matter of striping it.
b) Trailway Program – Review Trailway Comprehensive Plan (depending on the time, the Commissioners
may want to start this discussion at the September meeting)
c) Review Parks Needs Analysis
d) Any Other Items?
