Public Works — Don: See attached report. Direct Staff to check on if there are infant changing tables in the City Hall Park restrooms near the splash pad, and hopefully put them in. 7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS A. Community Center Expansion- Verbal Report — Don: There is a need to expand, there is funding possible, but we need to accommodate for 400 parking spaces total. Further investigation is needed. B. Pickle Ball Courts — Silver View Park: Direct Staff to mark off the court dimensions to the west of the building and come up with cost estimates C. Random Playground - Installation Update: it's coming along D. City Hall Park — Installation of New Pavilions: coming soon E. List from IBL — Baseball Field Improvements: They would like fencing along 1st and 3rd baselines, dugouts, and shed to store equipment at both City Hall and Silver View fields. Direct Staff to bring back itemized cost estimates for each field. 8. NEW BUSINESS A. Review 2023 Capital Park Improvement Project List: Reviewed list of projects. Consider switching reconstruction of Greenfield Playground in 2023, and Hillview Playground in 2024 (flipping what is labeled on the PIP). Direct Staff to bring back their recommendation. B. Festival In the Park — August 19 & 20, 2022: Parade and Family Fun Night at City Hall on Friday. Saturday will be at Silver View. Shuttle busses will be provided from MVCC and another location TBD. Pete Szurek — Public Works Superintendent Date: August 24, 2022 RE: Public Works Staff Report The following is a synopsis of recent activities and events of the Public Works Department Parks Maintenance Staff worked on the following items since August 1, 2022; • Mowing all parks and mowing all irrigated athletic fields twice a week • Watering new trees twice a week Weed whipping all parks ® Splash pad maintenance every day: Chemical checks, blowing surface and filter cleaning, two workers generally one hour • Splash Pad feature pump repair • Ball field dragging and game preps • Paint ball field foul lines, soccer lines once a week Grill installation City Hall park • Irrigation repairs ongoing and abundant at city hall park around the new pavilion sites • Trash and litter pick up • Inside and outside park building cleaning Forestry Staff worked on the following items this last month: • Resident consults • Contractor meets • 2022 Disease Survey has started diseased trees are being marked for removal • Construction removal planning and evaluations for 2022-23 ongoing • Wood chipping trees • Watering new trees • Invasive removals Silverview East end of Wood Lake • Grant work The following is the List of Parks and projects / maintenance activities ongoing or planned this year. Non- profit organizations and -Night to Unite groups may be eligible for a reduced fees (see policy below). **NON-PROFIT POLICY. 1. Non -Profit entities duly registered in the State of Minnesota with active status as denoted on the Minnesota Secretary of State registry that has real property or a physical presence and provide a measurable benefit to the City of Mounds View can submit a written request to the City Administrator that $500 fee be waived. 2. Only one waived fee per year per Non -Profit is allowed. 3. Non -Profit's making and receiving the waiver are still required to submit a $200 security deposit to cover damages and cleaning. 4. Non -Profits making and receiving the waiver must clean the facility and remove all trash or will forfeit their $200 deposit. 5. Residents/Neighborhood Groups requesting use of a Park Facility for Night to Unite are required to pay the $25 sectinty 6eposit for the key and sign a use agreement that details cleanup and usa a requirements. VII.
