MEETING MINUTES
1. CALL TO ORDER at 6:30 PM
2. ROLL CALL: Commissioners: Anderson, Arel, Lillemo, Palm, Mills, Sullivan, Wake Wiesner
Staff: Peterson | Thomas *to be absent
3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Motion to approve by Palm, 2nd by Lillemo. Motion Passed 7-0
4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
September 22, 2022: Motion to approve by Lillemo, 2nd by Sullivan. Motion Passed 7-0
5. PUBLIC INPUT
Citizens may speak to issues not on tonight’s agenda. Before speaking, please give your full name and
address. Please limit your comments to three minutes. Mike Hodges, oldest son of the Hodges family,
read a letter on behalf of the family thanking the Commission for moving to change the name of
Random Park to Hodges Park in honor of Don and Amy Hodges. This item will be going forward to
City Council on November 14, 2022.
6. STAFF REPORTS
A. Parks and Recreation - Andy: See attached report. Hired Angie Gornik as Rec Coordinator. Other
positions posted.
B. Public Works – Don: See attached report. Kris Paulseth was hired as the City Arborist and will begin
work on November 21, 2022.
7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. Greenfield Playground – Other features: Keeping climbing wall, merry-go-round, balance beam, and
green dinosaur. Need to replace swing set and tot lot. Previously discussed adding a shaded table.
Motion by Lillemo to recommend to City Council that we go with Option 2 to add to Greenfield
Park playground with the new incoming playground, and add shaded picnic tables with “multi
sail squares” in colors lilac and sky. 2nd by Wake Wiesner. Motion Passed 7-0.
B. Review IBL Ball Field Improvement Requests: Postpone discussion until November with cost for
fencing up to 75 feet rather than 65 feet.
8. NEW BUSINESS
A. Review Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission Applications – (2
seats, 2023-2026): and two applications. Motion by Lillemo to recommend that both applicants
move forward to City Council for approval. 2nd by Mills. Motion Passed 6-0. Palm abstain.
B. Review 2023 Meeting Schedule: Motion by Palm to approve meeting schedule for 2023, 2nd by
Mills. Motion Passed 7-0
9. COMMISSIONER REPORTS: NONE
10. REQUESTS FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS / OTHER BUSINESS: November MVCC expansion will be
the only item on the agenda.
11. Next Regular Commission Meeting: November 17, 2022 at 6: 30 PM
12. ADJOURNMENT: Motion to adjourn at 7:18 PM by Palm, 2nd by Lillemo. Motion Passed 7-0
