STATE OF MINNESOTA
AUTHORIZATION FOR STORM SEWER REPAIRS ON LOIS DRIVE
WHEREAS, Staff inspected the storm sewer drainage pipe that flows under Lois
Drive and observed the metal corrugated pipe has severely rusted, and sediment was
entering the pipe causing voids under the road; and
WHEREAS, directly under the storm sewer pipe is a large sanitary sewer main,
should the storm sewer pipe collapse it would damage the sanitary sewer line; and .
WHEREAS, Staff has consulted with various contractors and the City Engineer on
the best method to repair the pipe; and
WHEREAS, Staff obtained a quote from Dave Perkins Contracting Inc. to excavate
and remove and replace the storm sewer pipe at a cost of $126,091,00; and
WHERAS, Staff also explored and received quotes for lining of the storm sewer
pipe: Thul $172,440.00
Engineering & Construction Innovations Inc. $99,855.00
WHEREAS, Tree removal, restoration and installing 2 new catch basins will be
required for this repair for a total cost of $22,991.00.
WHEREAS, the funding for these repairs is budgeted in the Storm Sewer Fund,
745-4415-7050, which includes $250,000.00 for Storm Sewer Projects.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds
View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows:
1. The City hereby approves the quote from Engineering & Construction
Innovators Inc. to line the Storm Water Culver under Lois Drive at cost of
$99,855.00.
2. Tree removal by Upper Cut Trees for a total of $15,278.00
3. Installing 2 New Catch basins and Curbing by Schmitt Curb for $5,428.00
4. Restoration completed by Staff for $2,285.00
5. 7% contingency of $6,989.85
6. Funding will be payable from the Storm Sewer Account, 745-4415-5150

7. The Mayor and City Administrator are hereby authorized and directed to
execute all appropriate documents to effectuate the actions contemplated by
this resolution.
8. The Mayor and City Administrator, Staff and consultants are hereby authorized
and directed to take any and all additional steps and actions necessary or
convenient in order to accomplish the intent of this Resolution.
