PRESENT: Commissioners present included Chair Burmeister, Commissioners Silvis, Stevenson, and Starr. Also present were Councilmember Trude and Director Saarion. Commissioners absent were Trettel, Long and Dentz. MINUTES: Commissioner Silvis made a motion to approve the minutes of June 23, 1994. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Stevenson. Motion passed. WOODCREST PARK: The park visit to Woodcrest Park was canceled due to the severe weather. Discussion regarding Woodcrest Park were possibilities including taking soil borings to determine soil conditions, having the park surveyed for any need of additional soils and leveling, and/or any need for soil corrections so that the space could be used for a youth athletic field. Commissioner Silvis made a motion seconded by Chair Burmeister requesting staff to pursue avenues for this work to be done. Motion passed. LINEAR PARK IDEA: Staff presented a possible park design for land available in the south west section of the community. The land is very narrow and long - therefore the reference as linear park design. The Commission reviewed the design and decided that since the community is so against the idea of a park in this area, that efforts are better spent on upgrading Woodcrest Park. UPDATES: Director Saarion updated the Commission on projects including the options for Silver View Park ditch traverse, sidewalk along Silver Lake Road and LAWCON needs for Greenfield Park. The CDBG project for installation of bathrooms at Hillview and Groveland Park buildings was also discussed - with the situation likely that the bids will exceed the grant amount. The Commission recommended that staff approach the Council to request additional monies to improve both park buildings. EDGEWOOD IMPROVEMENTS: Director Saarion informed the Commission that team player benches were installed at fields located at Edgewood School - being a partner in the capital needs of the fields since the City uses the fields to a great extent. OTHER BUSINESS:Because of the weather (severe thunderstorms with lightening, thunder and tornadoes) the meeting was cut short so that everyone could head for home. Meeting was adjourned.
