ROLL CALL: Commissioners: Anderson, Arel, Lillemo, Lundberg, Palm, Mills, Wake Wiesner Staff: *Peterson I Thomas 1 Szurek *to be absent 3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Motion to approve by Palm, 2nd by Lundberg. Motion passed 5-0 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES-February 22, 2024: Correction: Mills was present at the Feb. meeting. (Lillemo present now) Motion to approve by Arel with correction. 2nd by Mills. Motion Passed 6-0 5. PUBLIC INPUT Citizens may speak to issues not on tonight's agenda. Before speaking, please give your full name and address. Please limit your comments to three minutes. NO RESIDENTS PRESENT 6. STAFF REPORTS A. Parks and Recreation -Andy: See attached report (Wake Wiesner present): 1st St. Patrick's Day Bash was a success! No specific complaints at Hodges Park Building, but it does need some updates in the bathrooms and new carpeting. B. Public Works — Pete: See attached report. 7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS A. Ball Field Improvements- City Hall, Silver View Park — Shed location Concrete Slab: Direct Staff to bring this size and location to IBL to see if this is acceptable. B. Coach of the Year: We have 13 nominations. We can choose past winners. Discussed our top 3 choices among each Commissioner. The Commission shared some of the comments and agree that comments should be shared publicly on social media. Motion by Lillemo to nominate Co-Coach of the Year to coaches #2 and #8 for MV Coach of the Year. 2nd by Wake Wiesner. Motion Passed 7-0 C. Joint City Council / Parks, and Recreation and Forestry Commission Meeting — May 6, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. 8. COMMISSIONER REPORTS: Per email from Don Peterson: Staff has reached out to the Ramsey County Library about a "Literacy Trail." Staff has not heard back, but the RCL did provide a website for further information. Promoting an "off-leash" dog park area on social media and the MV Newsletter would be how we would get the word out. This is at Hillview Park and Lambert Park ice rink enclosed areas. Community Garden: We are still receiving information from other communities on how they run their programs. Local Girl Scout Troop sent to the Commission with ideas to improve Hillview Park to be inclusive and have an accessible bathrooms during the day. Portable bathrooms will be delivered mid-April. Next Tribute Park meeting will be April 9th. Positive survey results! Where are we with the Twins Grant for the ballfield improvements? Unknown 9. REQUESTS FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS / OTHER BUSINESS: Park Tour for May, Public Works Tour 10. Next Regular Commission Meeting: April 25, 2024 11.
