Three of these seats expired on December 31, 2005. Discussion: On January 9, 2006 the City Council re -appointed David Long to the Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission. Since that time, Mr. Dale Aukee submitted an application for re -appointment to a new term on the Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission. Mr. Frank Silvis has resigned is position on the Commission and did not seek re- appointment. As a result, the vacancy on the commission was advertised. The City received one new application, this was submitted by Thai Vang. The applications received from Dale Aukee and Thai Vang are submitted for the City Council's review. The Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission have made a motion to approve these appointments to the Commission. The Commission has also made a motion to re -appoint John Kroeger as Chairperson to the Commission. Recommendation: It is recommended the City Council review and consider the attached applications submitted by Dale Aukee and Thai Vang. Staff also recommends that the City Council recognize the Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission motion of recommendation by approving the appointment of Dale Aukee and Thai Vang to the Parks and Recreation Commission. Staff also recommends that the City Council recognize the Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission motion to re -appoint John Kroeger as Chairperson to the Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission. Respectfully Submitted, Greg Lee, Director of Public Works RESOLUTION 6774 CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA APPOINTING DALE AUKEE AND THAI VANG TO THE PAR&S ARD NECREATION AND FORESTRY COMMISSION AND APPOINTING A • WHEREAS, the Mounds View Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission consists of members appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the majority of the City Council; and, WHEREAS, there is currently two vacant seats to fill; and WHEREAS, the City has received only two applications for the two vacant seats; and WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission made a motion recommending Dale Aukee's re -appointment to the Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission, and Thai Vang's appointment to the Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission; and WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission made a motion recommending the re -appointment of John Kroeger as Chairperson to the Commission. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows: 1.
