I have contacted both the DNR and the Rice Creek Watershed District regarding the removal of trees within a wetland. There doesn't seem to be any explicit rules from either of these
agencies that prohibits the removal of trees.
The removal of trees would only require a permit if heavy equipment that would impact the wetlands are to be used.
The DNR has no rule against the removal of trees, but recommends against it because trees do play a role in a wetland ecosystem.
Attached are the responses from the aforementioned agencies.
