Approval of minutes from the March 27, 2008 meeting. 3. Public Input - Citizens are encouraged to speak to the Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commissioners on issues of concern. 4. YMCA Update 5. Unfinished Business: Greenfield Park– the long term vision for the parkland and existing trail way located north of Oakwood Park and east / northeast of Greenfield Park. Staff has developed plans for Greenfield by defining pathway layout options. These plans provide options with and without bridges. General costs estimates have been developed for the Sherwood access ($2,000 + bridge), top dressing and regarding the pathway ($5,000-$8,000), and refurbishing and installing the existing bridges ($50,000 to $90,000). The Commission will review their calendars with the intent of setting up a Clean Up Day for this park at this meeting. The meeting has been set up, Commissioner Palm created a flyer and they have been hand delivered in the park vicinity. There will be a Public Works Staff member at the clean up to assist and to supply bags. The trash will then be trucked out by them. Annual Meeting with City Council – This meeting took place at the work session on April 7, 2008. The Commissioners discussed various issues and plans with City Council. 6. New Business: City Hall Playground Equipment Replacement Project – This has been budgeted for in 2008 ($38,000). The Commission would like this completed before 50th Anniversary celebration at MV Festival in the Park. Assignment for the Commission is to review the Game Time website at http://www.gametime.com/ The Commission narrowed it down to purchasing three pieces consisting of a climbing wall, merry-go-round and a space loop climb. I have attached information along with the goal information. Staff has determined that the estimated costs are for the playground fiberfill, and any other non-equipment items are $6,600. Staff would recommend that we stay with the sand until the rest of playground equipment is replaced. It would be difficult (although not impossible) to install a proper drain field with standing equipment. Town Hall Meeting Discussions - April 19th Items 9am-12pm Item that were available: The new Facility Guide, photos and info on new park buildings, Oakwood Park project, possible Park Watch Program, Tobacco-Free Park sign, Tobacco-Free bookmarks (available from YMCA?). The newly created promotional video was shown on cable TV and at the Town Hall Meeting. The Town Hall Meeting went smoothly, lots of questions and interest in the Parks and Trails. A mistake was discovered on the Parks Brochure!!!! We do not have a Disc Golf Course at Greenfield Park. Soccer Goals for Oakwood Park – The Commissioners discussed the email that Steve had sent out regarding the estimated cost of soccer goals. The Commissioners wanted to explore more options. Staff will provide more information / options. Other New Business? We need to discuss the soccer goal prices that came in $700.00 more than the original figure (I did send information out) I will resend information out on this and the proposed playground pieces for City Hall. At the Town Hall Meeting the question came up about putting in a pitchers mound at one of the Silver View fields. I asked Pat Prindle to get together some figures the would help in a decision. There was the suggestion of starting an “ADOPT-A-PARK” program. Would the Commissioners be interested in pursuing this? 7.
