APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF A JOHN DEERE 4075R UTILITY TRACTOR WITH
IMPLEMENTS
WHEREAS, the City has utility vehicles that are utilized for the Public Works Department
to perform necessary maintenance, and;
WHEREAS, the City Council understands the need for Public Works to properly operate
various tasks such as snow removal operations, mowing of grounds and around storm water
ponds; and
WHEREAS, City Council approved resolution 9421, purchasing a John Deere 5090M
Utility Tractor from the State Of Minnesota Cooperative Purchasing Venture from Frontier Ag &
Turf of Columbus, MN for a cost of $115,292.00; and
WHEREAS, Staff had come to realize this tractor was too large to meet the needs of the
Public Works Department and met with the City Administrator to recommend trading it in for a
smaller utility tractor; and
WHERAS Frontier Ag & Turf provided a cost proposal for a New 4075R John Deere Utility
Tractor for a total cost of $81,155.46, also included in the proposal was a trade value of the 5090M
Utility Tractor for $77,500.00.
WHEREAS, Staff is recommending the City Council approve the trading in of the 5090M
tractor and the purchase of a new 4075 R Utility Tractor for a cost of $3,655.46.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds View,
Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows:
1. Approves the purchase of a 4075 R Utility Tractor from Frontier Ag & Turf of
Columbus MN not including sales tax or license fees for $81,155.46.
2. The trade in of the 5090M Utility Tractor for $77,500.00.
3. A budget difference of $3,655.46 to be funded by the Parks Vehicle and Equipment
Budget account 460-4360-7030.
