APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Motion to approve by Palm, 2nd by Bankston. Motion Passed 4-0. 4. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES from June 26th, 2025, meeting: Motion to approve by Bosneag II, 2nd by Bankston. No residents present. 6. STAFF REPORTS A. Parks and Recreation — Peterson: See attached report. B. Public Works — Peterson: See attached report. 7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS A. Zipline update, Pulling Zipline August 19th — Peterson B. Blue Cross Blue Shield Fitness Court update, must be installed by no later than mid - September 2025- Peterson (Wake Wiesner HERE 6:46 PM). Due to the deadlines, we were unable to choose a local MV artist. Hopefully we can choose someone local in the future with more notice. BCBS has to approve the artists. C. Tribute Park - Starting construction first week of August 2025- Peterson: Dedication is September 13th at 1:00 PM in conjunction with the Fall Community Resource Fair. 8. NEW BUSINESS A. Bilingual Story Trail at the Penny Carnival August 15th - Peterson. B. GOAL Parks - subcommittee — talking applications now- Committee will focus on how to fund the Park Master Plan- Peterson: Applications will be in the MV Matters. Can we put QR Codes in the parks to advertise applicants? Motion by Palm, 2nd by Bosneag II to nominate Laura Wake Wiesner as the PRF Commission representative to the GOAL Parks Subcommittee. Motion Passed 5-0. C. Festival in the Park — 2025 Update 1. Dinosaur Naming for Hodges Park - Bosneag II is willing to construct a social media post that would include a QR code for the community to submit names and then he will choose the top three names to provide shoebox voting at the Festival. Arel will cut up paper for voting. Votes will hopefully be counted between 6:00-7:30 PM so the winning names can be announced at the end of the raffle winners. We will have 3 copies of the Park Master Plan and encourage applications for the GOAL subcommittee. There will also be information about the Tribute Park. 9. COMMISSIONER REPORTS: MV Movies in the Park every Friday night in August starting at dusk. MVEA is hosting a movie night at IHS at 6:00 on Wednesday, August 13. Ralph Reeder Food Shelf needs paper grocery bags. 10. REQUESTS FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS / OTHER BUSINESS: NONE 11. Next Regular Commission Meeting: August 28th, 2025 12. Buildings & Operations • Community Center will be closed September 11t for Labor Day and the 2"d and 3rd for maintenance (carpet cleaning/gym resurfacing, etc.) • Community Center hours return to normal September 4th 8am — 8pm Monday — Saturday. Programs • Explore More o Finished with 1000 more camper days than 2024 for a 163% increase. • Fall Youth Leagues start next week. 100 participants in soccer. • All other youth/adult programs will start mid -September/ early October Upcoming Events • Community Resource Fair September 13th • Puzzle Palooza September 21 St • Community Bonfire October 2"d • Fall Festival October 23rd o Now accepting sponsors for the trick or treat street. Businesses or organizations can decorate a door, provide candy and volunteers. Festival/Penny Carnival Festival and Penny Carnival were moved to the Community Center due to the inclement weather. Parks Maintenance • Trash litter pickup Mondays and Fridays at all park locations • Ballfield game preparation and leveling • Field marking painting for: 3 soccer fields,1 Lacross field and 7 baseball fields. • Mowing all the parks, litter pick up before mowing • Irrigation system repairs • 2025 Festival in the Park: hauling 60 tables from Blaine, hauling 20 barricades from Blaine, getting the stage from Blaine, setting up the stage, painting and marking car show and craft show, setting up the generator and electrical, preparing the Council float, picking up and setting up 6 large tents, creating signage for the festival, installing the signage for the festival, picking up tables and chairs from Central Rental..... • Packing up and returning everything Monday and Tuesday following the festival • Cleaning the grounds and street sweeping following the festival Monday and Tuesday City Hall Park 2025 Construction Schedule - BCBS Finess Court — Installation of fitness equipment week of 9-1 2025 -Tribute Park concrete completed electrical wire running starting 8-26-2025 Forestry Staff worked on the following items last month: • Several resident phone consults and site visits • Contractor meets and calls • Bush trimming, sucker pruning, wood chipping • Started 2025 full city diseased tree survey, marking public and private trees- mailing letters • Some tree removals Stump Grinding on Silverview Trail Hazard Branch removals in several locations Trail trimming • Finalized trees sale numbers and species for 2026 Mulching trees Spraying nonselective herbicide 11Page Public Works Staff Report The following is the List of Parks and projects / maintenance activities ongoing or planned this year.
