We were packed like sardines, and your help in the hosting duties were very much appreciated. I think that the meeting was very interesting. We will need to discuss our reactions to the presentation of information and the reaction of the public. This is on our agenda. One agenda item that is particularly important for this meeting is the goals and objectives of the Commission - - to be recommended to the City Council. The Council / Department Head goal setting session is set for March 6 and 7. Therefore, this topic is • very timely. As you review our departmental goals, they are more task and activity orientated. I think that the Commission needs to be visionary orientated. One such example would be perhaps - commitment to budgeting for the installation of sections of trailways in the parks. . . or development of a revenue producing park facility such as an adventure golf course . . . or the advocating of facility modifications to comply with the American Disabilities Act. . . or the future plans for changing demographics and services relating to the RSCC. These may or may not be areas that you wish to recommend, but I hope that it gives you an idea of the type of direction that is needed in your goals and objectives. Also, I think that timelines and action plans need to be included in the recommendations. Therefore, think hard before this meeting to come up with some of your ideas for Parks and Recreation next year and in the future. Also, Councilmember Quick requested the Commission to discuss and recommend several ideas for the use of the land directly north of City Hall, which once was ballfield East. This is the area of the new water tower. The other agenda items will be explained as they come up during the meeting. I will hand out the Annual Report, and will share some information that I recently received regarding adventure golf courses.
