And I want to be the first to congratulate Commissioner Long on a successful SuperBowl playoff game. I'm just happy that he survived the game - curious to see if he has any frostbite. Our first meeting of the new year is THURSDAY. JANUARY 23. 1997 AT 6:30 P.M. AT CITY HALL. CONF. RM. C. As we enter this new year, we have many issues at hand including work regarding the Community Center, completion of the Pedestrian Bridge, Highway 10 Corridor planning, improvements to Ardan Park, re-use of Woodcrest Park into community gardens and filling the vacancy of the • Parks and Recreation Department. These projects are over and above the normal activity of the department. As we enter this Spring season, we will need to re-evaluate the workload and try to strategize the least impact on the residents as possible. However, even with our best efforts, activities and programs will slip through the cracks because there is only so many hours in the day, days in the week to accomplish what needs to be done. As with each new year is the appointment of a new City Council liaison. New Council Member Stigney has been appointed the Council Liaison to the Parks and Recreation Commission. Together we can welcome Roger and update and inform him regarding the goals and objectives of the Parks and Recreation Commission. If you are unable to attend the meeting please call me at 784-0618. I am very proud of your great attendance in the prior years and hope that your continued attendance to meetings is as favorable as the past years. You all are truly appreciated and you make a difference in the community.
