STATE OF MINNESOTA
APPROVING THE PROMOTION OF POLICE OFFICER ALEX AASE TO THE
POSITION OF POLICE SERGEANT
WHEREAS, the City Council approved the posting of the Police Sergeant position during
the June 22, 2026, Council meeting; and
WHEREAS, staff posted the internal job for the promotional opportunity and received four
(4) applications, interviewed, and sent all candidates to the City's psychologist for leadership
assessments; and
WHEREAS, Officer Alex Aase was selected for the promotion to Police Sergeant; and
WHEREAS, staff and the HR Committee support the selection of Officer Aase to the
position of Police Sergeant, with a start date of today, August 24, 2026, with compensation
following the LELS 232 Labor Agreement, beginning at Step 3 — 90%. Sergeant Aase will serve
a six-month probationary period. He will advance to Step 4 — 95% after successfully completing
one-year in the Sergeant position (August 24, 2027); and advance to Step 5 — 100% effective
August 24, 2028, based on successful performance evaluations.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Mounds View,
Ramsey County, Minnesota does hereby appoint Officer Alex Aase to the following:
• Non -Exempt, Union, Police Sergeant position, effective August 24, 2026
• Starting wage of Step 3, $57.57/hour
• Probationary period of six months
• Ability to advance to Step 4 — 95% after successfully completing one-year in the Sergeant
position (August 24, 2027); advancing to Step 5 — 100% (August 24, 2028), based on
successful performance evaluations
• Sergeant Aase will continue with his K9 partner and receive canine handler compensation
as outlined in the 232 Labor Agreement, receiving $125 per bi-weekly payroll, plus an
additional 0.5 hours of time per scheduled shift to care for his K9 partner
