City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />March 9, 2010 <br />Page 2 <br />V. REPORTS FROM COMMISSION AND STAFF. <br />3 A. Public Works Annual Report. Jay Hartman, Public Works Director, presenting, <br />4 <br />5 Public Works Director Hartman presented the 2009 Public Works Annual Report. The report <br />6 focused on the following information: <br />7 • Public Works Divisions: <br />8 o Street Division, Parks Division, Utility Division, Vehicle Maintenance Division, City <br />9 Buildings <br />10 • 2009 Accomplishments <br />11 o Departmental <br />12 o City Wide Projects <br />13 • 2010 Scheduled Projects <br />14 • 2010 and Beyond <br />15 • 2010 Upcoming Events <br />16 <br />17 Public Works Director Hartman answered questions of the City Council on the 2009 Public <br />18 Works Annual Report in regards to service leaks, the decrease in the amount of water main <br />19 repairs, and the 4.73% water loss city wide. Public Works Director Hartman explained that the <br />20 recently implemented snow removal parking restrictions did not have a large impact on plowing <br />21 operations. There are 24 miles of road in the City cleared with snow events. This plowing is <br />22 accomplished in 6 %2 hours with six inch snowfall events. He informed that there are currently <br />23 five pieces of equipment used for plowing, with one single axle truck scheduled for replacement <br />24 in the next five years. <br />25 <br />26 Public Works Director Hartman explained that the ice rink was not open at Emerald Park this <br />27 past season due to the necessary time for the new turf to be established. In the future there will <br />28 be both hockey and recreational skating provided at the park. He stated that the utilities <br />29 throughout the City have been added to the GIS system that was purchased approximately two <br />30 years ago. <br />31 <br />32 Mayor Faust thanked Public Works Director Hartman and the Public Works Department for their <br />33 hard work. <br />34 <br />35 B. Finance Annual Report. Roger Larson, Finance Director, presenting. <br />36 <br />37 Finance Director Larson presented the 2009 Finance Annual Report. The report focused on the <br />38 following information: <br />39 • Finance Department Staff <br />40 • Long Range Planning <br />41 • City Buildings <br />42 • Capital Equipment <br />43 • Infrastructure <br />44 • 2009 - Total Operations Budget <br />45 o General Operating Budget <br />46 o Mid -Year Restructure of 2009 General Operating Budget <br />
