City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />March 9, 2010 <br />Page 4 <br />1 prepared them for anything that may be much worse in the future. Mayor Faust pointed out that <br />2 there were preventative measures taken with a tremendous amount of effort that went into <br />3 preparing for H1N1. It was a classic example where federal, state, county and city all <br />4 cooperated. <br />6 Mayor Faust thanked Fire Chief Malenick and the Fire Department staff for their hard work for <br />7 the City. He requested City Manager Morrison to extend commendations to the department <br />8 heads for their cooperation in working together. <br />10 VI. GENERAL BUSINESS OF COUNCIL. <br />11 <br />12 None. <br />13 <br />14 VII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCIL MEMBERS. <br />15 <br />16 City Manager Momson reported on the following: <br />17 • Joint Meeting with the Planning Commission is scheduled for March 16, 2010 at 5:15 <br />18 p.m. <br />19 • Joint Meeting with the School Board is scheduled for March 16, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. <br />20 • He has an interview scheduled with Gail Olson for the Historical Society Book on March <br />21 10, 2010. <br />22 • Police Chief Ohl obtained a $20,000 grant from Ramsey County for portable radios. <br />23 • Citizen's Academy begins March 10, 2010 and will continue for seven evenings. <br />24 • Severe Weather Class is scheduled for March 11, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. The class is open to <br />25 the public. <br />26 • Three Rivers Park District letter regarding E -bikes has been provided in council member <br />27 mailboxes. The District will be allowing E -bikes in all of their parks. City ordinance <br />28 does not allow any type of motorized bikes in parks. Staff will be sending a letter to the <br />29 Park District expressing the City's willingness to work with them and indicating that they <br />30 may need to attend a Planning Commission meeting to address the issue. <br />31 • Xcel c -letter highlights St. Anthony and decorative street lighting. An interview with <br />32 Public Works Director Hartman and City Engineer Hubmer is included in the article. <br />33 • Staff is working with Congressman Ellison on funding for the Silver Lake Clean Water <br />34 Project. <br />35 • Staff is working with school staff on the Minnesota Twins Grant for fencing on the girls' <br />36 softball field. <br />37 • State primary date has changed from the second Tuesday in September to the second <br />38 Tuesday in August. The August 10, 2010 City Council meeting will begin later due to <br />39 the primary. An amendment to the sign ordinance will be required to comply with the <br />40 date change. <br />41 • The Water Reuse Project has received the Minnesota Society of Professional Engineers <br />42 Distinguished Engineering Achievement Award. Governor Pawlenty will be presenting <br />43 an award for the project in May. <br />44 <br />45 Mayor Faust requested City Manager Morrison to arrange a tour with Congressman Ellison and <br />46 Senator Klobuchar in relation to the Silver Lake Clean Water Project. <br />
