City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />June 8, 2010 <br />Page 4 <br />1 <br />2 Motion carried unanimously. <br />3 <br />4 VII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCIL MEMBERS. <br />6 City Manager Momson reported on the following: <br />7 • The Park Commission will hold its quarterly meeting on Monday, June 14`h at 7:00 p.m. <br />8 ISD #282 Athletics Director Urdahl will provide an update on recent improvements at <br />9 Central Park. The new Director of Silver Point Park will also be present at the meeting. <br />10 • The City Council / ISD #282 School Board joint meeting scheduled for June 29, 2010 has <br />11 been rescheduled for August 31, 2010. <br />12 • Stacie Kvilvang of Ehlers and Associates will be present at the June 22, 2010 City <br />13 Council meeting to review four separate issues related to the Silver Lake Village Project. <br />14 <br />15 Councilmember Roth reported on his attendance at the June 3, 2010 North Suburban <br />16 Communications Commission Meeting. During that meeting four St. Anthony residents received <br />17 scholarships awarded by the Commission. Within the next 60 days the Commission will make a <br />18 decision as to where it will relocate. A special Commission meeting will be scheduled for the <br />19 latter part of June / beginning of July. <br />20 <br />21 Councilmember Stille reported on his attendance at a seminar put on by the Builders Association <br />22 of the Twin Cities on June 2, 2010 in conjunction with the Association's Senior Housing <br />23 Council. The seminar included the presentation of findings based on tours of the communities of <br />24 Eagan and Woodbury in relation to amenities, etc. for seniors in each community. Each of the <br />25 communities had been awarded a $3,000 grant from the University of Minnesota. <br />26 <br />27 Councilmember Gray: No report. <br />28 <br />29 Councilmember Jenson: No report. <br />30 <br />31 Mayor Faust reported on his attendance at the following events: <br />32 • May 27, 2010 Job Transition Event put on by Nativity Lutheran Church and underwritten <br />33 by Thrivent Financial. He noted that one interesting fact discussed was that while it is <br />34 often stated that the internet is the new place to obtain employment, 80% of jobs are still <br />35 obtained through networking. He has suggested that the League of Minnesota Cities find <br />36 a method to make the tape of the event available. <br />37 • June 3, 2010 Subcommittee Meeting on the Minnesota Environmental Initiative which is <br />38 looking into how to streamline city reporting requirements to the MPCA, Metropolitan <br />39 Council, and BWSR in regards to water management. He has suggested that the MPCA <br />40 collaborate with the League of Minnesota Cities with the survey that will be distributed to <br />41 cities on the subject. <br />42 <br />43 VIII. COMMUNITY FORUM. <br />44 <br />45 Mayor Faust invited residents to come forward at this time and address the Council on items that <br />46 are not on the regular agenda. <br />
