St. Anthony Police Department Annual Report. Chief John Ohl presenting. <br />Police ChiefOhl presented the Police Department's 2011 annual report and stated the Police <br />Department is grateful to the community and it means a lot to have an engaged City COlmcil , <br />business community, and citizens all working toward the same common goal. He reviewed 20 II <br />Part I crimes and indicated property crime continues to be the City 's most prevalent crime. He <br />also reviewed Part II crimes and stated criminal damage to property was the most prevalent Part <br />II crime. He explained that overall calls for service increased due to the new records <br />management system being used in the City which counts citations and adds to the total number <br />of calls for service. He stated that the Police Department's community policing efforts resulted <br />in 1,848 citations being issued , 210 non-moving violations, and almost 1,00 0 arrests. He <br />explained that the Police Department started a rotating investigator position and th is has been <br />beneficial to the City's overall clearance rates with a total of 535 offenses investigated and 289 <br />cases cleared resulting in a clearance rate of 54%. He acknowledged Captain Cotroneo's efforts <br />in this regard. He reviewed the ongoing education and training of the Police Department and <br />stated a significant amount of education in 2011 had to do with technology. He discussed the <br />important role of the Police Reserves who donated 2,475 donated hours last year. He also <br />discussed the Police Department's crime prevention activities and stated the City has a very <br />engaged, professional Police Department who commit themselves every day to public sa fety. He <br />added the City has extraordinary officers who care about their community and are proud to serve . <br />Councilmember Jenson asked how the Police Reserve Officers support the Police Department. <br />Police Chief Ohl stated the Police Reserves provide services such as towing cars, prisoner <br />transports , traffic control, participating in community events, riding with officers , and handling <br />parking related issues. He added the Police Department is appreciative of their efforts . <br />Councilmember Stille asked Police ChiefOhl to comment on the decrease in Part I and Part II <br />crimes over the past several years. <br />Police Chief Ohl stated the Police Depaltment has been very proactive and works hard on law <br />enforcement and overall crime prevention , which appears to be affecting crime rates. <br />Mayor Faust stated the Fire Department and Police Department annual reports are available at <br />City Hall.
