Additional Tools <br />I <br />Painted Intersections <br />Painted intersections, sometimes called street <br />murals or "Intersection Repair" are volunteer <br />driven efforts to transform an intersection into a <br />plaza like community space by painting artistic <br />imagery on the street. <br />Painted intersections generally require permission <br />from the transportation department and majority <br />support from the adjacent neighbors. <br />Shared Use Paths <br />Shared Use paths may be used by pedestrians, <br />skaters, wheelchair users, joggers and other non - <br />motorized users. These facilities are frequently <br />found in parks, or as a neighborhood cut -through <br />to shorten connections and offer an alternative to <br />busy streets. <br />Warning Signs <br />Warning signs call attention to unexpected <br />conditions on or adjacent to a street or bicycle <br />facility. <br />Around schools, the School Crossing Assembly is <br />the most common type of warning sign, used to <br />warn drivers to expect and anticipate bicycle <br />crossing activity. <br />Overpass <br />Overpasses provide critical non -motorized system <br />links by joining areas separated by barriers such as <br />deep ravines, waterways or major streets or <br />freeways.
