CITY OF ST. ANTHONY <br />COUNCIL MINUTES <br />1/26/1976 <br />The Public Hearing on the expenditure of funds under the Community Development <br />Act of 1974 was called to order by Mayor Miedtke at 7:01 P.M. <br />Present at roll call: Sauer, Stauffer, Sundland, Miedtke <br />Absent: Haik <br />Also Present: Jerry Dulgar, City Manayer� <br />Jim Fornell, Adm. Asst. <br />Mr. Bob Isaacson, Staff Planner, Hennepin County, spoke about the intent, <br />purpose and funding distribution of the Act. <br />Councilman Stauffer asked whether the funding is definite. <br />Mr. Isaacson responded that it's a Hennepin County "urban county" application <br />and that last year no proposals were rejected. The County works with the <br />communities to eliminate ineligible proposals. He then listed a number of <br />projects which were funded under the 1975 application: bikeways, walkways, <br />park improvements, housing rehabilitation programs, water filtration improve- <br />ments, and land acquisition for housing and parks. <br />i Mr. Rymarchick of the Planning Board then suggested a long range plan for the <br />City, to be funded from the grant. <br />Mayor Miedtke commented on a bill before the legislature which would give the <br />Metropolitan Council the power to require communities to make such long range <br />plans. <br />Councilman Sauer mentioned a request from Carol Folstad of 3609 Downers Drive <br />regarding spending the grant on the beautification of the area around the <br />intersection of Kenzie Terrace -St. Anthony Blvd. -Silver Lake Road. <br />There being no other opinions on the expenditure of the funds, the Council <br />discussed other matters. <br />City Manager Dulgar mentioned the appointment of a new assistant liquor manager, <br />Diane LeClaire. He also advised that the City should hold fast on their latest <br />offer to the 49'rs Union, representing the Public Works Dept. by adopting a <br />resolution supporting the M.A.M.A. negotiating committee. <br />Motion by Councilman Sauer, seconded by Councilman Stauffer to adjourn. <br />Motion carried.
