-Vity Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />October 28, 2014 <br />Page 4 <br />1 municipal fiber project connecting the city buildings. He stated the City secured a highway <br />2 safety (HSIP) grant related to pedestrian signals and the City has held open houses regarding the <br />3 project. He advised that LED lighting has been added to the City Hall parking lot and liquor <br />4 store coolers as well as the public works building; in addition, as of today, LED lights have been <br />5 installed in the gym at the community center. He stated that staff is working with students at the <br />6 Humphrey School of Public Affairs regarding a citizen's academy. He stated that the Parks <br />7 Commission has met with Minneapolis parks staff about a dog park and is in the process of <br />8 putting together a proposal for City Council consideration. He stated the City website contains <br />9 project updates and information sheets regarding the Silver Lake treatment project and Central <br />10 Park bio-swale project, as well as the chip sealing project and Kenzie Terrace pedestrian <br />11 crossing. He advised that the Capital Improvement Plan has been extended to 2031 as part of the <br />12 City's financial planning efforts. He stated that Human Resources is working with Public Works <br />13 and the Police Department on comparables for wage and benefits with other cities. He added <br />14 that the City is always looking for ways to be more efficient and to maximize technology. <br />15 <br />16 Councilmember Jenson noted that 56 action items were outlined for 2014 and responses were <br />17 provided on 40 of those action items. He complimented Mr. Casey and all of the City staff for <br />18 their efforts. <br />19 <br />20 Mayor Faust thanked Mr. Casey and all of the staff for their significant contributions. <br />21 <br />22 VII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCIL MEMBERS. <br />23 <br />24 City Manager Casey reminded residents about the electronic recycling event on Saturday, <br />25 November I", from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at City Hall and noted further information is available <br />26 on the City's website. <br />27 <br />28 Councilmember Stille reported on his attendance at the October 23`d Chamber of Commerce <br />29 Adopt a Family fundraiser. <br />30 <br />31 Councilmember Gray — no report. <br />32 <br />33 Councilmember Jenson announced that the St. Anthony Civic Orchestra will be holding its fall <br />34 concert on Sunday, November 2nd, at 3:00 p.m. at the Community Center and admission is free. <br />35 <br />36 Councilmember Roth — no report. <br />37 <br />38 Mayor Faust reported that he was asked by the high school principal and athletic director to <br />39 speak to their leaders group on October 22"d about leadership. <br />40 <br />41 VIII. COMMUNITY FORUM. <br />42 <br />43 Mayor Faust invited residents to come forward at this time and address the Council on items that <br />44 are not on the regular agenda.
