In addition, it ensures that the City
Code is reflective of what is desired for the community.
Dynamic display signs are currently permitted in the ROS -Recreation Open Space Zoning Districts only.
These types of signs are prohibited in all other locations throughout the City.
In 2008, the Sign Code was reviewed and updated based on the findings, purpose and intent and effects
outlined in the current Chapter 155 of the City Code. Over the past several years, the Planning
Commission and City Council have reviewed requests to allow dynamic display signs in a variety of
zoning districts.
At the July 8, 2014 regular meeting of the City Council , the Council directed staff to study allowing
dynamic display signs throughout the community. Staff prepared a DRAFT amendment to the Sign Code
relating to Dynamic Display Signs and held two work sessions with the Planning Commission to review
and discuss the proposed language on August 25, 2014 and September 22, 2014 and two additional
work sessions with the City Council on September 30, 2014 and November 3, 2014.
The Planning Commission held a public hearing on November 24, 2014 and recommended approval of
the Dynamic Display Signage Ordinance with a vote of 4-1.
107
