General Fund Budgetary Highlights
<br />Variances from original to final budget are as follows:
<br />• The 2008 General Fund operating budget totaled $4,998,600.
<br />Variances from actual to budget can be briefly summarized as follows
<br />• Building permit revenue exceeded the budget by $21,368.
<br />• Municipal state aid — street maintenance was less than budgeted ($551).
<br />• Unbudgeted public safety grants provided $20,725 in funding for safety and alcohol
<br />compliance.
<br />• Municipal court fines exceeded budget by $15,562.
<br />• Interest earnings exceeded budget by $3,866.
<br />• Cable franchise fees exceeded budget by $19,806.
<br />• Miscellaneous revenue exceeded budget by $2,827.
<br />Capital Asset and Debt Administration
<br />Capital Assets. The City of St. Anthony, Minnesota's investment in capital assets for its
<br />governmental and business -type activities as of December 31, 2008 amounts to $39,892,342 (net
<br />of accumulated depreciation). This investment in capital assets includes land, buildings and
<br />structures, improvements, machinery and equipment, park facilities, roads and infrastructure.
<br />The total increase in the City of St. Anthony, Minnesota's investment in capital assets for the
<br />current fiscal year was 6.6%.
<br />Major capital asset events during the current fiscal year included the following:
<br />• The annual street reconstruction and infrastructure improvement project was added.
