Overall,
the proposed 2012 General Operating Budget represents an increase of $20,650 over last
year's budgeted amount.
General Operatiniz Fund
For year 2012, Staff is proposing a General Operating Budget in the amount of
$5,498,650, compared to last year's budget of $5,478,000, reflecting a .38% increase
from 2011. Overall, the personal services portion of the Budget continues to be the
largest segment comprising 74.5% of the General Fund Operating Budget.
The increase in the 2012 Operating Budget reflects a 1.5% increase in salaries for Fire,
Liquor and Non -Union employees and a 1.0% increase in salaries for Police and Public
Works. In addition, the employer health insurance contribution for family coverage will
increase $100.00 per month for all union and non-union employees.
Infrastructure Improvements
During the past few years there has been significant reconstruction of City streets,
sidewalks, the storm water system, Silver Lake Village and our park infrastructures.
The 2011 road project included street reconstruction and utility improvements to Belden
Drive, Coolidge Street, Harding Street and Edward Street (36" Avenue NE to 37°i
Avenue NE) and sidewalks on 39°i Avenue (Silver Lake Road to Macalaster Drive).
