POLICE <br />The St. Anthony Police Department's purpose is to protect and serve St. <br />Anthony residents through pro -active and preventative patrol, traffic law <br />enforcement, investigation of criminal activity, emergency response, crime <br />prevention, and the development of community contacts and relationships. <br />Through problem solving, community collaborations, and empowering the <br />department's line personnel, we move foreword toward these goals. <br />The Police Department's primary focus is to insure the community's <br />livability, safety, and security through fair and impartial law enforcement. <br />The department has a strong commitment to Community Oriented Policing <br />that can be evidenced through the department's actions and mission. <br />The department is comprised of a Police Chief, one Captain, one <br />Lieutenant, two Sergeants, one investigator, seventeen patrol officers and <br />one full time civilian community service officer. The department also <br />employs two full-time secretaries and one part time data entry clerk to <br />support the department's overall goals and objectives. In addition to the <br />sworn officers, fourteen Police Reserves help maintain the professional <br />excellence of the department. <br />The police department also provides 24-hour contractual police services <br />for the cities of Lauderdale and Falcon Heights. Eight officers are <br />dedicated to those communities for police protection and response. The <br />department's involvement in these contracted services creates additional <br />resources for residents of St. Anthony. In addition, the contracts also <br />reduce the overall tax liability associated with police costs to St. Anthony <br />residents, as well as pay for squad cars and other police equipment. <br />In keeping with our commitment t, <br />police department provides a wide <br />educational programs including: <br />Community Oriented Policing, the <br />variety of community services and <br />• Crime Prevention <br />• Minnesota's Night to Unite <br />• Neighborhood Crime Watch <br />• DARE <br />• Animal Control <br />• Community Education and Involvement <br />• Police Bike Patrol <br />• Liquor and Tobacco Compliance Checks <br />• East Metro SWAT <br />• Citizen's Police Academy <br />37 <br />
