REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION

Meeting Date: May 12, 2015

Fiber Optic Agreement Between City of St. Anthony and St. Anthony-New Brighton School District

OVERVIEW:

In front of you this evening is an agreement with the St. Anthony-New Brighton School District for
build out and future maintenance of a fiber optic connection between St. Anthony City Hall and
Roseville; and St. Anthony High School and TIES.

The agreement permits the St. Anthony-New Brighton School District to utilize one pair of the City’s
fiber from City Hall to 39th Avenue and Stinson in exchange for a fiber connection to Roseville City Hall
(via TIES) at no additional cost to the City. The City of St. Anthony will be responsible for the one-
time cost of $3,000 for extending the fiber from Silver Lake Liquor Store to 39th Avenue and Stinson
through the existing City-owned conduit located in the 39th Avenue right-of-way. Once connected to
Roseville City Hall, St. Anthony will have fiber connectivity to the institutional network (Metro I-Net).

The completed infrastructure, including that already in place, will subsequently be shared between
the City of St. Anthony, St. Anthony-New Brighton School District, and the City of Roseville to achieve
the desired connectivity.

Appendix A of the agreement show the fiber route from St. Anthony City Hall to 39th Avenue and
Stinson.
