The Fire Department is responsible for protecting the community from <br />the effects of fire by the means of fire suppression, public education, <br />rescue and fire code enforcement. <br />The department is comprised of 5 full-time firefighters, 1 Assistant <br />Fire Chief, a Fire Chief and approximately 20 part-time personnel. In <br />addition, Public Works staff is available to respond to fire incidents <br />during daytime hours. <br />The Fire Department provides first response to all medical <br />emergencies on an EMT level, as well as mitigation of minor to <br />moderate hazardous materials incidents. <br />To provide our community with expedient quality fire and safety <br />services, the department is pursuing automatic and mutual aid <br />responses with our neighboring communities <br />Civil Defense: Civil Defense involves the planning, training <br />and response to disasters such as wind storms, tornadoes, snow & <br />ice storms, hazardous material accidents, major transportation and <br />mass casualty incidents. <br />Housing CedeEnforcement: The Fire Department enforces <br />City codes, ordinances and regulations relating to housing <br />maintenance, zoning, signs and nuisances. <br />42 <br />
