These include City Clerk responsibilities, planning, human resources, elections, refuse/recycling, licensing, and economic development. Finance The Finance Department staff administers the city’s finance activities, including coordination and planning of financial information, utility billing, accounts payable/receivable, permits, inspections, payroll, insurance, grant administration and the annual budget. Additional duties include code inspections and enforcement, fire prevention and public education, and emergency management. Liquor The city owns and operates two off- sale liquor stores, generating revenue for the community. The profits go towards reducing the tax burden of local taxpayers. Police Our 24-hour police protection also serves the cities of Falcon Heights and Lauderdale. Duties include routine patrol, crime suppression, investigations, crime prevention and public education. Public Works The St. Anthony Public Works Department performs maintenance and repair to the city’s infrastructure, including streets, parks, water, sewer, and city-owned vehicle and buildings. Independent School District 282 At 2.6 square miles, St. Anthony-New Brighton School District is the smallest geographic school district in Minnesota. Located six miles northeast of downtown Minneapolis, St. Anthony-New Brighton School District encompasses St. Anthony Village and a portion of New Brighton. Our school district serves over 1,800 students in three buildings--early childhood programs at St. Anthony Community Services (birth to age 5), Wilshire Park Elementary School (grades K-5), and the secondary building contains St. Anthony Middle School (grades 6-8) and St. Anthony Village High School (grades 9-12). St. Anthony Village High School is often recognized as one of the top 10 high schools in Minnesota top 500 high schools in the United States. St. Anthony Community Services St. Anthony Community Services provides Early Childhood programs for children ages three- to five-years of age, a before- and after-school extended day program for youth in grades K-6, family and parent education programs, after-school youth programming and activities for adults and senior citizens.
