Page 2 <br />PC Public Hearing <br />May 18, 2015 <br />4) Clarifying the structural integrity requirement to add "to the satisfaction of the building <br />inspector" <br />5) Referencing conditional use permit criteria in city code; <br />6) Eliminating the requirement for a licensed contractor- allow homeowner to install, with the <br />issuance of a building permit. <br />The City Council held a work session on May 4, 2015 and again reviewed the revised ordinance. They <br />accepted the recommended changes of the Planning Commission and recommended the following <br />additional changes: <br />1) Solar energy systems on accessory structures must be flush mounted; <br />2) Any solar installation mounted to a light pole shall not exceed three (3) square feet. <br />SUMMARY OF THE PREVIOUS DISCUSSIONS <br />Flush mounted vs. building mounted systems. The Council provided direction to staff and the <br />Planning Commission to allow only flush mounted on the front of homes and commercial <br />structures, but to allow building mounted in the rear portion of the roof, and that all accessory <br />structure mounted systems be flush mounted. <br />Example "flush -mounted" solar energy systems <br />
