34 <br /> INTRODUCTION TO THIS REPORT <br /> Two Strategic Planning Sessions were held with the Council Members and the City <br /> Manager and Staff in February 2000. The main goals of these sessions were: <br /> • Help each participant have an improved understanding of each other and also, <br /> to have a better understanding of what each member of the Council could offer <br /> the team as far as individual strengths, understandings, interests, etc.- <br /> • Help each participant understand their leadership role as a member of the <br /> Council and city staff. <br /> • Begin the process of bringing the Council and staff closer together as a team. <br /> • To better define the City's Core Culture, Value Proposition, Mission Statement, <br /> • Vision Statement, and Key Strategic Goals. <br /> • To conduct a SWOT Analysis to create a draft of the specific goals for the years <br /> 2000 — 2005. <br /> • To complete a list of goals and objectives to focus on in 2000 and 2001. <br /> After discussing the Core Culture, Value Proposition, and Key Strategic Goals, the <br /> strategic profile was drafted. A strategic profile was developed from this <br /> discussion that has become the basis for setting annual goals and work plans. The <br /> session ended with the development of eight goals for the city and specific <br /> objectives for each goal to focus on this year. The rest of this Summary Report <br /> contains: The Strategic Profile, List of Key Goals, and a List of Goals and <br /> Objectives for the Staff to focus on in 2000 and 2001. <br /> 1 <br />
